Bridging technology and sustainability

Passionate about sustainability, I dedicated my journey at the Technical University of Munich (TUM)1 to exploring innovative ways to integrate technology into sustainability solutions. Despite the lack of sustainability-focused coursework in my management program, I strived to integrate these principles into my academic journey, bridging technology and sustainability.

For my project study “Developing a Strategic Climate Action Plan for the City of Kassel”, I supported a startup in its main goal of developing climate neutrality scenarios for this city. An intensive work centered on research to identify the potential of key levers in the sectors of mobility, waste, industry and land use, resulted in deriving recommendations for action for each sector as well as defining realistic and feasible climate goals.

My bachelor thesis “Green window of opportunity: How North African countries can leverage green relocations as a catalyst for socio-economic development” addressed the gap in empirical studies concerning policy options for North African countries to attract green relocations of European energy-intensive industries while leveraging the benefits for local socio-economic development. The goal was to derive best practices and policy recommendations to contribute to policy makers in leveraging these ‘green windows of opportunities’.

Recognition

In addition to achieving the highest grades in both my project study and bachelor thesis, I was recognized for my dedication as the Representative for the Environmental Lecture Series2, but in a rather special way: I was nominated for the ‘2024 DAAD Prize’, issued by the TUM Center for Study and Teaching. The prize recognizes international students who stand out for their remarkable social or intercultural engagement beyond their studies in Germany.
